Macedonia Geography

The Republic of Macedonia is a land-locked country, located in the south eastern part of Europe, on the Balkan Peninsula. The country is bordered by Greece to the south, Albania to the west, Serbia to the north, and Bulgaria to the east. The terrain of Macedonia is mountainous, sometimes dotted with valleys and plains. The longest river of the country is the Vardar. Macedonia has Continental type of the climate in the north and Mediterranean - in the south. Although Macedonia is a year-round destination, the best time to visit the country is from May to October.
